Berkhamsted Eyecare Healthcare Business Sold to Jackson & Co Eye Care

Our client, Berkhamsted Eyecare Ltd (BE), is a high-street optical practice, supplying a highly proficient level of eyecare services and expertise throughout Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. The company was established in 2016 by Peter Sanders.
The comprehensive range of services offered by BE, as well as its highly personable service approach, has earned it an excellent reputation within its area and facilitated strong relationships with its customers.
Knightsbridge Commercial Executive Ben Hunt led the sale for Peter, describing BE as “a highly reputable and top of the line optical practice that stocks an extensive range of spectacles and lenses.
“Its proficient and dedicated team of opticians has an exceptional local reputation, serving both private and NHS patients. The practice operates from purpose-fitted leasehold premises which underwent an extensive and top of the line refit in 2022.
“After many years of successfully building up and running the business, Peter was looking to retire. His ideal purchaser was an optician who could continue through with the delivery of services and his support to his client base.”
Delivering these strengths to potential buyers, as well as consistently high turnover and gross profit figures, Knightsbridge drew interest from no less than 28 interested parties, “received through organic and research approaches,” Ben explained, adding:
“Five offers were received from trade buyers looking to purchase the business to add to their existing opticians.” Following a series of competitive bids, BE was sold to Jackson & Co Eye Care, a family-owned practice, established by Daniel Jackson in New Romney, Kent, opening its doors in 2020.
Ben commented: “The final offer was a great figure, all paid on completion. The deal was an asset purchase, for all high-quality and named stock, machinery and clients, under a Newco rebranding of Jackson & Co Eye Care Berkhamsted.
“Daniel is on an expansion mission for the Jackson & Co Branding, and saw the Berkhamsted location as being an ideal place to further his brand. He will receive ongoing support from Peter post-completion to ensure a smooth handover and delivery.
“Peter also possessed high-quality and named frames, lenses and machinery which would allow Daniel to provide more services to his existing patients, and allow a natural growth.”
