MUSCL Acquires SO4 Offshore Facilities Management & Utilities Company | Transaction Overview
Formed and incorporated in 2009, SO4 Offshore Limited is a supplier of commissioning and field engineers for water treatment systems. Using a network of specialist sub-contractors to complete work onshore, offshore and subsea, the Company specialises in membrane-based technologies Seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) and Sulphate Removal Packages (SRP) as well as primary seawater treatment systems including electro-chlorination, vacuum de-aeration, chemical injection packages and primary seawater course and media fine filtration.
The field engineers’ activities include:
- Commissioning of water treatment systems and ongoing operational support
- Providing construction and pre-commissioning site-based supervision, including specialist site-based client representatives
- Fast mobilisation of UK-based on-site engineering assistance
- Training operational personnel
Working with clients across the globe, in sectors such as marine, oil and gas, offshore, subsea and general engineering, SO4 works with approximately 5 active clients at any given time, including major blue-chip organisations such as Veolia – a leader in environmental solutions.
The Company also has strong client relationship longevity with several customers having worked with S04 for more than 7 years. The Company also generates new business via word-of-mouth recommendations and referrals, which are facilitated by its high levels of customer satisfaction.
Approaching retirement, SO4’s shareholder instructed Knightsbridge Commercial to sell the business. Commercial Manager, Sara Thomasson, handled the sale of the business and generated 3 viewings and 2 offers.
A deal was agreed with MUSCL Ltd, a company offering professional procurement services for the oil and gas industry. An appropriate match for the Company, in that the purchase of SO4 Offshore will allow MUSCL to expand and diversify their service offering into the water treatment industry and recruitment sector.
